Tour de France Buys Giro d’Italia

PARIS, FRANCE — Le Tour is officially merging with the Giro in a peloton-shattering buyout.

Tired of sharing the hype, men’s cycling’s biggest grand tour buys the other one for an undisclosed price (€).

Rumors are already circulating. Suggesting riders will traverse both countries in an epic 2-month race. Keeping up with tradition, each tour will start in a completely different country with no direct-route or ties to either host.

Title Sponsor: Spain!

Organizers note the primary reason for grand tours, sponsorships, will bring in a fortune given the massive nature of the double-tour.

More eyes = more money. Which prices out many previous sponsors but makes room for big names to enter the cycling arena.

Spain has stepped up as 2026’s title sponsor in hopes of generating more attention for their up and coming nation.
