All Downhill From Here

The Tour de France is introducing a downhill stage in next year’s race. Riders will descend Mount Ventoux, Cannonball Run style.

Unlike most stages, this one will not feature a “course”. Riders will be free to choose their own line down the mountain. Picking up style points for unique pathing and tricks.

To spice things up and truly test bike handling skills, riders will send it on any bike they want.

Multi-disciplinary cyclists Tom Pidcock and Mathieu van der Poel are early favorites to win the debut downhill stage.

mystery jersey

Rumors around a new “Style Points” jersey classification are gathering momentum now that downhill will be featured in Le Tour.
